RIP David Perper (Dixie Dregs) and Alex Ligertwood (The Dregs)

“Earlier today, a group of close friends had a celebration of life and laid to rest, David Perper. Dave was the drummer for the Dregs in the early ’70s when we were a quartet. Mark Parrish, who also is no longer on this earth, played keys so well. Andy West and I are the only ones left from that band period.

Mary, Howard, and Kurt got in touch with me early enough (over a week ago) that I was able to spend a wonderful few hours talking with Dave during a very good day, which I was so happy to have been part of. This just strikes home how important it is to let people know every chance possible, that they matter to you!

Also, I should note that Alex Ligertwood, who sang on our Dregs album, Industry Standard album, and of course with Santana as his main gig, died recently. Wonderfully pleasant and colorful character, he was.

Once again, it inspires me to keep the preciousness of life in mind, always.”
